Brent, Pastor/Elder
My name is Brent, and I serve as the Lead Pastor/Elder of Steel Valley Church. My primary responsibilities include preaching and teaching scripture, overseeing the vision & values of the church, leading & equipping staff & leaders, and working with the council of Elders in providing pastoral care, servant leadership, and doctrinal oversight for the church. I was born and raised in the South Side of Youngstown and have also lived in various locations around Ohio at various seasons of life. I currently reside on the West Side in Cornersburg. I have been married since 2011 to Bethany, and we have 4 children, Micah, Levi, Ayla, and Arielle. I have earned a B.A. from Liberty University, and am currently enrolled at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.). I also have an additional B.A. in CAD and Project Management from ITT Technical Institute. My passion within the church is seeing the power of God’s Word working through various seasons of life to grow, unify, and mature believers. Additionally, I am passionate about Expositional Preaching and raising up leaders, and training them within the church.

What is the Gospel? The Gospel is the story of God restoring what humanity distorted. God created everything perfect, and mankind rebelled against His Word. The cost of this rebellion should have been death, however, through Jesus Christ, God atoned for the penalty for that cost. Our sins were placed upon Jesus on the cross, and by His atoning sacrifice, He died the death that we deserve. By our faith in Jesus Christ, we have been justified, and await the day when we are risen with Him in glory and neverending fellowship with our creator.
