🚧Wick Ave Bridge Closure & Detour Information🚧
The Wick Avenue bridge over U.S. 422 is now closed for a bridge deck replacement project. This closure will affect those who normally use the Wick Avenue exit to get to Steel Valley Church
What’s going on?!?!
According to ODOT’s current Mahoning County construction update, Wick Avenue over U.S. 422 is closed beginning Monday, May 18, and is expected to remain closed through late August. Earlier project documents described a 60-day maximum closure, but the most recent public construction update now says the closure will last through late August, so church members should plan for this route to be unavailable for most of the summer.
ODOT’s project summary says the work includes replacing the Wick Avenue bridge deck, roadway approach slabs, adjacent intersection pavement, sidewalks, curb ramps, and lighting. The original project materials also noted that detours would be required for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic during the closure.
Who will be most affected?
The biggest impact will likely be for those coming from 680 North or 680 South, especially anyone who normally exits at Wick Avenue to come to Steel Valley Church.
This will most affect members coming from:
—> Boardman / Poland / Pennsylvania via 680 South
—> Columbiana / Canfield / Austintown via S.R. 11 and 680 North
Those who live north of the church or in Trumbull County should be less affected if they come down Belmont Avenue instead of trying to use 422 and Wick Avenue.
